Recess started with a love of baking, a really big cookie, and an idea for a little self-serve stand in the Tennessee countryside.
What began in our home kitchen quickly became something much bigger than we expected. We opened the Recess Cookie Stand in August 2026 with a simple idea: bake ridiculously good, oversized stuffed cookies and give our community a fun, easy way to get them.
Then East Tennessee showed up.
Our little roadside stand found its way across social media, cookies started selling out, and people began making the drive to Kodak just to see what was stocked that weekend. What we thought might be a small home bakery quickly became a community of people following along, requesting flavors, bringing friends, and coming back for their favorites.
Recess is a true family-run microbakery. Every cookie is baked in small batches from our home kitchen, the stand is stocked by us, and every new flavor starts right here.
We make the kind of cookies we want a trip to the cookie stand to feel worthy of: oversized, packed with good stuff, and hiding something even better in the middle.
The menu changes and the cookies sell out, but the idea behind Recess stays pretty simple: Make really good cookies. Have a little fun. Give people something worth making the drive for.
